The Coalesse Design Group considered this trend when they designed the new Potrero415 Tables.

Like a hearth in a home, the office conference table or café table serves as the centerpiece of the office and a primary gathering spot. Because of this, the Coalesse Design Group wanted to create a table that welcomed people and encouraged collaboration as well as relationship-building.
