Jess Sorel

Jess Sorel’s career has spanned nearly twenty years in the contract furniture industry. His time spent as a designer and design director at Metro, along with a number of projects in recent years, has resulted in a body of work that demonstrates his passion for questioning the status quo.

Based on his extensive experience, Jess established sorelstudio, which provides product design, creative direction and design strategy services. Sorel thoroughly enjoys working closely with his clients to help them achieve their creative and strategic objectives. His thoughtful and strategic approach is evident in the successful results of his many projects and product designs.

Sorel has an intense curiosity about the context in which objects are made and used. His primary focus is on understanding and interpreting the world around him – with an eye on where culture and technology are trending and how it impacts the way we live, work and play.

Sorel holds numerous design and utility patents, and his work has been featured in Abitare, Azure, Blueprint, Contract, Domus, Dwell, Fast Company, I.D. Magazine, Interior Design and Metropolis.

Jess Sorel and Otto Williams (working as WilliamsSorel) collaborated with Coalesse to design the Denizen Collection, the recipient of a Best of NeoCon Gold Award.
