Home / Congratulations to the winners of our Craft Your SW_1 Lounge contest
In our Craft Your SW_1 Lounge contest, we invited designers to craft a story using our popular lounge chair and Coalesse Color, a program that applies infinite base paint options. The Coalesse team had the privilege and pleasure to review all the design submissions, and we created a short list of three designs that we found to be exceptionally inspirational and carefully crafted.
After having the designs professionally rendered, we posted them on Instagram and asked our followers to vote for their favorite. At the completion of an intense 24 hour voting period, we’re excited to announce a winner! Below we share the winner and finalists and the stories that inspired their designs.
Thank you to all the designers who participated in the contest. Congratulations to all three of our finalists!
Our winning desgn was a collaboration charrette by Christine Checho and Alex Wiedemer of HUNT Engineers, Architects & Surveyors. They wrote a story that illustrates the inspiration behind their design.
⠀
“Welcome to a New Universe…⠀
⠀
Render-Progress⠀
Render-Change⠀
Render-Creation⠀
⠀
Imagine a chair that unlocks your potential. A realm that is electric with possibility & energy so great it transcends this world.
⠀
Render-Material⠀
Render-Texture⠀
Render-Form⠀
⠀
A pixilated world where space appears and evaporates as shapes move in and out. Cubic forms are interlocking, colliding and connecting constantly progressing.
⠀
Render-Inspiration⠀
Render-Illusion⠀
Render-Dreams⠀
⠀
This is your world. What will you do with it?”
Christine and Alex were the only participants to “write code” for their design entry. We particularly liked how their fabric and color choice connected to their story. Thank you for participating, and congratulations!
Our runner up is the creation of Mary Ford of ID Studios in Solana Beach, California. Mary’s design was inspired by downtown Chicago and her mother, who worked in the city. Her story is below.
“Born and raised in the Midwest, I have always been inspired by downtown Chicago and its perfect blend of nature and structure. In the late 70s and 80s, my mother was a business woman in downtown Chicago. She commuted into the city in her power suit; a tweed skirt suit set.”
We love Mary’s use of “blue surf” on the base of the lounge chair and ottoman, and the fabric that mimics her mother’s tweed blazer. Thank you for participating, Mary, and congratulations!
Our third finalist is Kim DeGuzman of One Workplace was inspired by a trip to the Museum of Ice Cream. To share the story behind her design, she wrote a haiku:
Ice cream is lovely.⠀
Imagine an ice cream chair,⠀
Except not sticky.
We found Kim’s design to be especially “sweet” and inspirational. We loved how she took purposeful photos at the Museum of Ice Cream to support her entry. Thank you for participating, Kim, and congratulations!
