1:1 scale models
Turner’s atmospheric paintings; Cézanne’s ‘The Card Players,’ to name just one; also artists such as Rothko and Lucio Fontana, who, with few resources, manage to evoke subtle emotions
David Ramos and Jordi Bassols: At the beginning of a project, we open ourselves to everything — so much, that no matter how insignificant it may seem, we believe it can provide us with some idea to start building our narrative.
DR and JB: Copa initially came into being as a seat of generous proportions supported by a central foot, reminiscent of a glass of wine or champagne. The gesture in the backrest’s incline, which was transferred to the arm, gave it uniqueness and helped to increase the comfort of the piece, which was one of our premises.
DR and JB: It is a chair with very defined lines, elegant and comfortable — without extravagances but with subtle touches that give it personality.
DR and JB: It’s in the combination of formal austerity and subtle gestures in Copa’s design — a gesture that defines its figure without turning it into an extravagance, and that gives the piece warmth despite its formal control.
