Salone del Mobile is one of the largest furniture fairs in the world, drawing more than 300,000 visitors each year. Coalesse partner Viccarbe once again used this prominent event to present its new designs for 2018.
The Valencia-based furniture manufacturer is staying true to its vision of creating warm, timeless, contemporary pieces. At Salone, they unveiled new additions by renowned creators Patricia Urquiola, Jaime Hayon, and Ludovica & Roberto Palomba. They are all returning as designers for the Viccarbe collection.
Our Viccarbe partners speak to the trends and excitement of Salone del Mobile 2018 and their new designs. View exclusive images from the event in the slideshow above.
What design trends were prominent at Salone del Mobile this year?
Regarding aesthetics, what we understand as contemporary elegance has been objectified through warm materials and pure silhouettes.
Salone del Mobile has also become a meeting point for art and design. The constant dialogue between form and function has been represented throughout sculptural pieces in the furniture industry.
Re-editions or reminiscences to the past have specially made and appearance this year.
What was the primary message from Viccarbe this year?
Balance. It’s all about warmth and quality.
Our efforts have been focused on working by the hand of the most talented designers, following strict production standards and at the same time offering an affordable price for every piece of the collection.
How would the new Viccarbe introductions be described in a few words?
In a word full of information overload, the aim of Viccarbe is to launch clear messages, through designs that need no explanation. On this occasion, we have created a calm space for pure and timeless pieces.
Which of the new introductions are you most excited about?
Getting back to design processes lead by Patricia Urquiola have become one of the most exciting parts of this fair. It has happened thanks to the extension of our Burin table family.
Jaime Hayon has allowed us to keep on exploring concepts such as freedom, character and abstraction. Since he is one of the most demanded designers of the world, we are grateful and proud of this special collaboration on the Aleta Collection.
The greatest hit for 2018 is our new Torii bench, designed by Ludovica + Roberto Palomba. Thanks to its multifunctionality and use, different finish possibilities and chair height option, this bench can be used in collaborative spaces for many different environments.
What’s special or unique about this year’s designer collaborations?
The greatest challenge for Viccarbe is to create a balanced and coherent collection out of designs from many different creators of the world, each with very diverse backgrounds and styles. We feel this year’s additions complement the existing collection while offering new options to bring warmth and quality to any environment.
What kind of experiences will the new introductions create in workplace/hospitality settings?
Collaboration, interaction between its users, warmth and real comfort.
