With the recent launch of the Montara650 Collection of seating and tables, we’ve been diving into the inspiration and insights that went into its creation. Last week, we spoke with design collaborator Manel Molina of LAM to learn about designing Montara650 Seating. This week, we asked Product Manager Denielle Lovett about the collection’s unique qualities.
What makes the Montara650 Collection, made up of a chair, stool and table, unique?
The simplicity in its design and the broad offering allow it to be used in so many spaces.
What other pieces from the portfolio can be used with this collection?
Montara650 seating and table elements are designed to be used together – or on their own. For example, the seating pairs nicely with the Potrero415 Table in social and collaborative settings. The tables work well with just about any chair or stool in the Coalesse offering to support places where people meet.
What insights fueled the design of Montara650?
Work destinations have changed – and technology has given the freedom to work anywhere. Users desire to connect with their co-workers in spaces that feel more inviting, comfortable and have the vibe of the third place, like a coffee shop. Organizations want to create destinations that bring new life to work. The Montara650 Collection has been designed to meet these needs – a refined solution to create inspiring social spaces.
What were the challenges with designing and producing this collection?
Developing a Global collection that launched at the same time and is produced in both the Americas and EMEA is always a challenge! We have never introduced a solution at the same time in both regions. Our global product development team had to work through challenges as they arrived and learn together, coupled by the differences in languages and time zones.
What are the customization capabilities for this collection?
The collection has a wide range of materials, finishes and product solutions that work together, allowing each setting to be personalized.
Why would you recommend that someone consider the Montara650 Collection?
When wanting to infuse warmth and a touch of luxury into the space, in a pretty simple way, this collection is ideal. The broad offering can support many applications across the floorplan.

What are some of your favorite features of this product line?
By far my favorite is the three-quarter upholstery detail on the chair. It demonstrates so beautifully Coalesse’s commitment to craft. The designers thoughtfully considered each detail – the refinement in the upholstery, the stitch detail and curated palette of finishes – including the five new wood finishes.
